Neoprene is more resistant than both natural and synthetic rubber. It is more inert (inactive) which makes it suitable for demanding applications such as gaskets, hoses and corrosion resistant coatings. It can be used as a base in adhesives, sound insulation in installations and as a lining in metal packaging. Neoprene can withstand extreme conditions such as fire, as it burns at around 260 ° C.
